This realistic looking Butterfly In A Jar was a major hit at The Tokyo
Toy Fair in 2010 and is guaranteed to add a touch of nostalgic childhood
innocence to your desk, shelf, worktop or windowsill.
This may looks like an empty jam jar but tap the top of this glass container or make a noise and the gorgeous butterfly inside begins to flutter around in an incredibly
lifelike fashion. Before you call the RSPCA - no - it's not a real
butterfly, but the way the colourful creature randomly stops and starts is staggeringly realistic.
Want to know how it works? Then read on...
If you unscrew the top of the jar you'll find the lid conceals three AAA
batteries (included). The body of the jar houses the butterfly which is
connected to a thin clear wire (the approximate width of a
hair). When the lid is tapped, or a noise is heard the beautifully dances around
the jar! The movements are random but always follow the natural movements that a real butterfly would make, and they continue intermittently for
90 seconds.
There are four species: Monarch, Yellow Swallowtail, Pink Morpho and Blue
Morpho. Each jar comes with its own species-specific, info-packed hang tag. Go on, have a flutter.
